The class will, in a first step, introduce EU history, institutions and theories that will then enable us to critically evaluate and contextualize them. Subsequently we will look at specific areas of EU policymaking and we will look at the various crises of the EU of the last decade(s). Therein, the class attempts to combine an overall introduction to the EU and its structures/functions with an analysis of the EU's current challenges.
