Prerequisite/Recommended prerequisite for participation in the module

The module is based on knowledge achieved when studying the 9th semester on the Master of Science in Energy Engineering with a thermal specialization or Master of Science in Sustainable Energy Engineering with specialization in Process Engineering and Combustion Technology or similar.

Learning objectives

• To provide a thorough understanding of various renewable feedstocks, their availability and attributes for biofuels production.
• To provide broad concept of 1st , 2nd and 3rd generation biofuel production from biomass and other low-cost agri-residues and biowastes.
• To provide necessary knowledge for biorefinery concepts involving energy products.

Relationship of Course to Program Outcomes

• Capability to assess biomass resources dedicated for bioenergy production and to design systems of biomass conversion, i.e. biorefineries.

• Competency to design and analyse production processes for converting biomass resources into biofuel, including techno-economic analysis.

• Ability to design experiments and conduct lab works related to biofuel research.
